What are the requirements to try out for American Idol?
February 8th, 2010 | by admin |How old do you have to be to try out for american idol? I am 13 and I wanted to try out for season 10. I am a good singer and wanted to try and get into the business. I know my chances of making it but, still, I like to sing and I thought maybe this would be a good career for me. I really want to try out.
Couldn’t hurt to go try the audition… remember that one season where a woman who was 50 or 60 was allowed to go sing for Simon and the judges?? Purely for entertainment. They never had any intention of sending her to Hollywood, because she was older than the age limit — but they put her on TV and listened to her sing…
If you have a parent who wants to take you and spend hours/days sitting and waiting just in case they MIGHT let you in for entertainment value, then it might be a fun experience!

You have to be 16 years old and no older than 28.

i think they said 16 to 18 and no older than 28 but u do have to go through a lot of auditions before you see Simon and them

If you like singing, you should pursue it. However, you have to be 16 to be on American Idol.
