My girlfriend owns a bar and we are talking about doing an american idol party for the finale. Looking for some creative menu ideas, etc. (Backstage BBQ, Idol Icees, etc)

Sounds like fun! You should definitely have karaoke… maybe after you watch the finale, or before? Maybe a lookalike contest (anyone who looks like this season’s contestants on Idol) that you could advertise beforehand, and whoever wins could get a gift certificate to the bar? That would bring back return business. 
For your menu you could also use the names of contestants, judges, or previous winners… ie a drink called the "Malakar Mixer" or a sandwich called the "Simon Special."
That’s just some random ideas off the top of my head. I’ve done event planning before so if you want an hour of professional consulting or something, shoot me an email.
